The message appeared on Alex’s screen just after midnight.
He wasn’t expecting it.
For a long moment, he simply stared at the notification glowing in the quiet darkness of his room. Outside, the night was calm, the kind of silence that made every small sound feel louder than usual.
Then he opened the message.
“Hello Alex… I hope I’m not disturbing you.”
The words were simple. Respectful. Almost cautious.
Yet something about them caught his attention immediately.
Alex leaned back in his chair, reading the line again.
He had received hundreds of messages before. Most of them meaningless conversations that disappeared as quickly as they began. But this one felt different for reasons he could not yet explain.
He typed back slowly.
“Not at all. Who am I speaking with?”
There was a pause.
A long one.
Just long enough to make him think she might never answer.
Then another message appeared.
“My name is Aliado.”
Alex read the name twice.
He didn’t know why, but something about it lingered in his mind.
Outside the window, the wind moved softly through the trees. Inside, the glow of the computer screen lit the room as Alex waited for the next message.
A few seconds later, it came.
“I’ve been reading your posts for a while,” she wrote.
“You seem like someone who understands people.”
Alex smiled slightly.
That was the first moment he realized this conversation might not be like the others.
What he didn’t know then…
was that this quiet message would soon lead him into a connection powerful enough to change both of their lives forever.
Sometimes destiny does not knock loudly.
